posted on 4/15/24

The 2024 Worth County Hazard Mitigation Plan is ready for public review and comment. The plan can be accessed through this virtual room: https://virtualconsultation.wsp.com/VirtualSpace/159026

Worth County has been conducting an update to their Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation plan, in cooperation with the associated participating cities and educational institutions. The Cities of Fertile, Grafton, Hanlontown, Joice, Kensett, Manly, and Northwood, along with the Central Springs Public School District and the Northwood-Kensett Public School District have all participated in the plan update process and will be adoptees of the plan upon approval from FEMA.

This plan analyzes the county's vulnerabilities to natural and human-caused hazards and identifies mitigation actions the jurisdictions can pursue to lessen the impacts of disasters, by minimizing property damage and reducing the loss of life.

The Worth County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will be updated every five years as required by the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. This update ensures the jurisdictions remain eligible for federal pre- and post-disaster financial assistance.

The draft 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan is being made available for public review and comment before it is finalized. Please use this survey form to submit your comments on the draft plan. https://forms.office.com/e/ZMw782U9Rq

Please provide comments by April 26, 2024. Thank you for your input!
